In this blog, I will take you on a pictorial trip to the Eid Milad Un Nabi celebrations in Lahore. As per some Muslim schools of thought, Eid Milad Un Nabi is the day when Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (P.B.U.H) was born. Those Muslims celebrate this day (all around the world) on the 12th Rabi-ul-Awal, the third month of the Islamic Hijri year (lunar year). In Pakistan, the 12th Rabi-Ul-Awal was on 9th October 2022.
Most Pakistani people celebrate Eid Milad Un Nabi with great enthusiasm. Mehfil-e-Milad (gatherings) are held in homes and mosques. People praise and give tribute to the Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (P.B.U.H) in these Mehfil-e-Milad. Free food is distributed among the people.

Markets, Houses, and Mosques are lit up. Rallies are taken out across the cities. Children made some cityscape models (called paharies).

This Eid Milad Un Nabi, The Sunday Walkers (A group of Photographers) decided to visit Islampura (A town located near the walled city of Lahore). We reached there around 4.00 pm on 12th Rabi ul Awal. The rally of Islampura was almost ready to leave towards Dehli Gate (Walled City, Lahore), where the rallies assemble from all over Lahore. The streets of Islampura were decorated with lights and ornaments. People voluntarily spent the whole night decorating the area and were excited about their achievements. Children were in new clothes and wandering in the streets with joy and happiness.

After covering Islampura, we decided to visit Bhatti Gate (one of the 13 gates of the walled city of Lahore). The same spirit and passion for celebrating the Eid Milad Un Nabi were seen in the people of Walled City. Happiness was in the air, free food was being distributed, and Streets were decorated with different themes. I started my walk to cover the walled city from Bhatti gate and ended up at Lohari gate.

The majority of Muslims all around the world, believe that there is no significance to celebrating the 12th Rabi Ul Awal as Eid Milad Un Nabi. They dislike all the activities that others do on this day.
